It’s Been a Good Year for Running

With my last race of the year done (the Winter Classic 5K on a cold, rainy morning in Cambridge), I decided to reflect back on my running accomplishments in 2018:

  • Six 5K races, including a new PR of 24:03 set at the United Way Corporate 5K in May when Intel Hudson won the cup.
  • Three 10K races, including a new PR of 56:58 set at the B.A.A. 10K in June
  • My longest leg ever during “Reach the Beach” 2018: 8.13 miles

I was hoping to get to 10 miles this year but I don’t think it is realistic given that we have less than a month until 2018 is history. So, rather than beat myself up for not reaching one of my goals, I am going to grateful for what I have accomplished.

While I was out on the race course, my wife has been killing it at the gym. Last week, she achieved her goal of 130 sessions more than a month early. Way to go, Jen – so proud of you! You’d never know we are in our 50s from looking at us.

Maybe 2019 will bring new challenges for us to overcome – who knows what they will be?
