Hi, welcome to my little corner of the Internet.
My name is Derek Speed and I, like you, am a person on a journey. Over the past few years, I have chosen to follow a path that is focused on physical and mental health and spirituality. I am grateful for everyone who has supported, and continues to support, me on this journey.
I am a husband and father who lives outside Boston, MA. In addition to my family, my greatest joys in life are music, photography, running, and my growing meditation and spirituality practice. I consider myself politically progressive and am an outspoken advocate on a wide range of issues including social justice, feminism, human rights, climate change, the environment, education, and sensible gun safety laws.
I am a former software program manager and engineering manager for Intel Corporation. I retired in September 2024 and now have more time to pursue the things I love to do. For more information about my career, check out my “Professional” page.
In case you are curious, both the banner page photo and the photo of me on this page were taken on the island of Inis Mór, one of the Aran Islands, off the coast of Galway in western Ireland. You can read more about this beautiful place at http://www.aranislands.ie/inis-mor-inishmore/
I hope you find something on these pages that interests you and makes you want to share some of your own insights from your travels along life’s path with me. Namaste.
Nice job Derek! So proud to call you family.
Beautiful. Great job
Hi Derek,
Congratulations on your new role as lead of CQE and also your 35th anniversary (wow!!).
I saw your update in the WPI Journal and so I posted this message.
Former member of the DLQ,
John
Hi John, it’s great to hear from you! I hope you are well. Are you still doing music?
Mr. Speed,
WOW! Three beautiful young ladies and of course my favorite Jen..
How many years I cannot count. I find myself being so grateful for having had the privilege of you both sharing some of your high school years with me. So much time has pasted but you both remain In my mind. It seems that life has been good to you and the very best to you as your journey continues.
You are all into technology and you would laugh at my lame attempt at typing and trying to reach out to you and Jennifer. I am a simple rehearsal rat. Anyway my very best to you and family. Happy Holidays
Stew
