When I achieved my goal of hitting 154 pounds recently on my wellness journey, losing a total of 36 pounds, my therapist asked what I learned along the way. When I told her 4 things, she said, “That was too easy – give me 4 more.” She can be a bit of an ass-kicker sometimes – one of the many reasons I love her π Here’s what I told her.
I have learned that:
- I am worth investing time and effort in.
- I am disciplined.
- I am surrounded by people who want to support me and help me achieve my goals.
- I am stronger than I thought I was, when I choose to call on the inner strength that exists within me.
- I have learned that it is OK to be selfish sometimes and just focus on what I need for Β me.
- I have learned that I can deal with setbacks and not let them cause me to quit or define who I am.
- I have learned that it feels good to be an example to other people by sharing my journey and story.
- I have learned that facing and working through my pain is a strong motivator for me. I have shed a lot of tears on this journey and will probably shed more as I work to maintain what I have worked so hard to achieve.
May your own journey help you to understand how strong you really are.
Namaste.
